Heading to Warmer Weather

We had a wonderful time this summer out West where we attended the HDT West Coast Rally and met up with friends we hadn’t seen in a while.  Then we were off to Idaho to take a jet boat ride on the rapids in Hells Canyon, an ATV ride up into the mountains and a Gondola ride in Coeur d’Alene.

Then we traveled to Montana where we attended an awesome rodeo, and took our bikes on the Going to the Sun Rd in Glacier National Park along with a boat ride and a red bus ride in the park.

We also went white water rafting on Snake River where Dave got launched out and took another Gondola ride.  We also visited the very cool, artistic, quaint town of Whitefish while we were there.

Then we were off to Wyoming to visit Yellowstone Nationa Park from the West, East and South entrances which included the infamous Old Faithful.   Of course, it wouldn’t have been a complete trip without boondocking just outside of the Grand Tetons.

Next was fun in South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and take our Spyders to Sturgis, Deadwood, Spearfish and Devil’s Tower plus Custer State Park and Mammoth Site.  But that wasn’t all, we also rode through the Badlands several times and visited the infamous Wall Drug.

Of course, we did all our site seeing on our Can-Am Spyder motorcycles which was just the best way to see America and traveled the outstanding scenic highways of Needles Hwy, Iron Mountain, Going to the Sun Rd, Big Horn Scenic Hwy, Mesa Falls Scenic Byway, Spearfish Canyon Hwy, Wildlife Loop Scenic Byway and Beartooth Hwy.  As you can see from this motorcycle roads map, there is a lot of excellent exploration to do out West via motorcycle.

We have to thank Mark and Jen for meeting up with us and riding all over SD and playing tour guide for a few weeks.  We really enjoyed our time with them.

Don’t miss the videos that I have already put out on this Western trip and more are coming.

So, after three months out west checking off multiple bucket list items, we headed back to our houseboat on Lake Lanier in Georgia to catch up on all our doctor’s visits, do some maintenance on Leroy our heavy-duty truck, the RV,  and the houseboat.  Zippy, our Smart car got new tires and so did the RV over the course of this trip.  Oil changes and other lubrications were done along with some cleaning and now we are ready to take off again.

We did take one camping trip an hour and a half north of us to River Vista campground in Dillard, GA for a weekend.  We met with our houseboat friends that also have RVs and had a great time with them.  And it wouldn’t be true houseboating unless you beach-out a few times at an island to enjoy the warm weather on Lake Lanier.  Of course we did that several times.

We want to go back to Quartzsite, AZ for the winter in the future and meet up with our HDT friends again, but we decided to go back to Florida this year.  We had such a nice, relaxing time last year in the Keys that we are going to do it again.  Maybe we will go back to Quartzsite next winter.  We also have some friends that we will meet up with while traveling through Florida.  If any of you are going to be on our route this winter, maybe we can hook up.  We usually take a 4-month trip during the winter, but this time we are coming back a little early.  The reason for that will be revealed later.

Thanks so much for following us and we appreciate your support by liking and commenting on our videos and also by purchasing anything on Amazon through our Amazon store.

Have a great winter and keep warm!
